"The MSA Program has helped me gain a deeper understanding of various auditing and tax concepts that were introduced to me in my undergraduate studies.  The lessons have given me an advantage in real-life application as I enter the tax field." -- Fiona Wu, MSA Class of '07

How the Program Works
Babson’s MSA Program exceeds the routine technical training found in most accounting programs and prepares graduates to become future CPA firm partners and consultants. The curriculum ensures that students develop strategic, ethical approaches to an ever-changing business environment.

The 18-credit integrated core enables students to study advanced level accounting in the same way it will be applied in the profession – as part of a dynamic and global business world, linked to the core functions of business enterprises. Throughout the summer, leading experts from Babson’s full-time faculty will guide students through topics that include:

  • Professional ethics, responsibilities and liability in accounting
  • International accounting
  • Financial analysis
  • Strategic business and tax planning
  • Accounting information systems
  • Government and not-for-profit accounting
  • Business writing for managers
  • Business and technical presentations

In addition to the summer core and one three-credit elective in entrepreneurship, a variety of flexible options exist to complete the remaining nine credits of required electives. In addition to the offerings of the Babson Evening MBA Program, specialized blended learning options for MSA students will be offered. These courses combine occasional visits to campus for weekend classroom experiences with online learning. Students may also participate in international off-shore electives that provide additional learning opportunities for MSA students. For example, students may travel to Ghana, West Africa for two-weeks during January gaining hands-on exposure to accounting in a global environment.
