Welcome to the Technology, Operations and Information Management Division of Babson College

The Technology, Operations and Information Management (TOIM) Division consists of over 30 full and part-time faculty. The TOIM faculty is committed to providing courses and programs for the College's undergraduate and graduate students, executive-education program participants, and the larger professional community.   We are able to accomplish this as a result of our ongoing research initiatives, course development and strong connections with information technology and Technology Operations management practitioners. Our close affiliation with Babson's Center for Information Management Studies, (CIMS) enhances our ability to accomplish our goals.

The TOIM faculty members are actively engaged in research.  A complete listing of our faculty, including specialties and areas of interest, can be viewed here .  Articles authored by the Information Technology Management faculty have appeared in highly regarded journals such as Management Information Systems Quarterly, Harvard Business Review, Sloan Management Review, Information Systems Research, Communications of the ACM and Journal of Management Information Systems. Articles authored by the Technology Operation Management faculty have appeared in respected journals such as Production Operations Management, Journal of Operations Management, IEEE Transaction, Journal of Supply Chain Management, and Sloan Management Review.  In addition, several faculty members have authored widely read books, college textbooks and cases.

Most of the TOIM faculty have worked in industry and many continue to remain active in industry through various research and consulting activities. As a result, the TOIM faculty use these “real world” experiences to bring to the classroom an awareness and understanding of the ever changing world of technology.

The TOIM faculty has been actively involved with the Babson curricula innovation efforts and is continuously developing and delivering new curricula to meet the needs of an ever-changing business environment.  Courses which have emerged from these efforts include:

  • Foundation Management Experience (FME)
  • Organizing for Effective Management  (OME)
