Mr. Winrich has taught introductory courses in Physics and Astronomy at Iowa State University and Union College, where he also managed the observatory. He managed the planetarium at the Schenectady Museum, where he developed new content for the public and school programs. He has worked with summer academic programs for middle and high school students as an instructor, and has worked with the interpretation program at the Boston Museum of Science. His professional interests include astronomical imaging and stellar evolution.
