Dr. Rangan holds the Kingsbury Term Chair. He is a research fellow at the Asian Institute and Institute for Latin American Business at Babson. He teaches regularly in executive education programs at Babson College, at Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College, and at several companies.

Dr. Rangan began his managerial career at the State Bank of India with industrial and international finance positions in Madras, India and London, England. Since then, he has held research and faculty positions at IMD (Institute of Management Development) in Switzerland, the Harvard Business School, and Tulane University, where he received the Howard Wissner Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award.

Dr. Rangan's research, teaching, and consulting focus on competitive strategy, joint ventures, strategic alliances, global competition, and national competitiveness. Currently he is working on research projects dealing with China's economic development strategy, the use of strategic alliances in service industries, and the impact of national business systems on global strategies of firms.

Dr. Rangan is the co-author of the best selling book, Strategic Alliances: An Entrepreneurial Approach to Globalization, published by the Harvard Business School Press. In 1995, the book was named one of the top 30 business books of the year by executive forums in both the United States and Europe. He is the author of several well-received and best-selling case studies on global competition and strategic management, published both by Harvard Business School and IMD. Dr. Rangan's research articles have been published in academic journals such as the Journal of Global Marketing, Columbia Journal of World Business, and Strategic Change. He has presented scholarly papers at the Strategic Management Society and the Academy of International Business, and has been a speaker at several practitioner-oriented conferences and forums.
