Professor Xu specializes in Japanese and Chinese management, and strategy and entrepreneurship in the computer industry, telecommunication sectors, and Internet related businesses. She is fluent in Japanese and has lived and worked in Japan. Professor Xu was co-founder and CEO of Chinalabs, a well-known strategic consulting company in China. She is also active as an advisor in several technology startups in Japan, China, and the United States. During the past several years, Professor Xu has been tracking the development of Chinese technology sectors. Current research interests include the organizational capability-building process in Chinese companies; the competition dynamics between Chinese domestic technology startups and foreign multinationals; and business applications of wireless technologies in China's market.
