Biographical

Born in 1943 and from Warren, Ohio, Mr. Barefoot received his B.S.B.A. from Babson Institute in 1966. He is the first President of Babson who is an alumnus.  He earned his M.B.A. from Pace University (1970). President Barefoot worked for Merrill Lynch from 1967-1992 and Paine Webber from 1994-2001. A long-term member of the Board of Trustees, Mr. Barefoot was its Chairman from 1996-2001. 

Babson Years

Babson College is awarded the 2002 Hesburgh Award for "Reinvention of Undergraduate Education."

Information Technology Management is created as a separate department.

The Undergraduate Integrated Management Core gets a redesign.

MBA Academy of Achievement is launched.

Babson College receives its first National Science Foundation grant.

Babson College becomes the first business school to join the Posse Program.

A Ph. D. program in Entrepreneurship is authorized by vote of the Board of Trustees.

President's Office first dedicated website and has its first podcast.

Institute for Family Enterprising is launched.

Fast Track MBA Program.

MS in Management is offered.

Babson Portal is launched.

Babson has its first Fulbright Scholar.

Babson Raising Campaign is launched.

Babson hires its first Chief Diversity Officer.
