Ralph Zellar Sorenson
President of Babson College 1974-1981

Biographical
"Bud" graduated from Amherst College (1955). After service in the U. S. Air Force he entered the Harvard Business School where he earned his M.B.A. in 1959. He joined the faculty at Harvard in 1964 and was awarded his D.B.A. in 1967. He left Babson in 1981 and accepted appointment as President and CEO for Barry Wright. During the 1990s Dr. Sorenson was an adminstrator at the University of Colorado. He is currently a consultant in Boulder.
Babson Years
UG and Graduate programs are accredited for the first time by the American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business.
Center for Entrepreneurial Studies is founded.
Founder’s Day is re-configured to promote the newly established Academy of Distinguished Entrepreneurs.
Babson College has its first capital campaign.
Horn Library, Horn Computer Center, and Pietz Hall are built. McCullough Hall and Kriebel Hall are dedicated. The Administration Building is renamed for Edith Babson Mustard.
The overall quality of the faculty is increased.
