Donna Dubinsky is widely recognized as one of the most successful, cutting-edge, serial entrepreneurs of the last decade. On May 1, 2003, the Center for Women’s Leadership was honored to bring her to the Babson campus.
Dubinsky addressed a capacity crowd of students, alumni, faculty and staff in Olin Auditorium. Her captivating story began with her role as president and CEO of Palm Computing where Dubinsky helped make the PalmPilot the best-selling handheld computer and the most rapidly adopted new computing product ever produced. Dubinsky and Jeff Hawkins introduced the original PalmPilot in February 1996, a move that revitalized the handheld computing industry. Following that success, she co-founded Handspring with Hawkins in July 1998 to create a new breed of handheld computers for consumers.
Dubinsky concluded her presentation with fifteen pieces of advice that focused on entrepreneurs, business and life. She stressed that entrepreneurs must challenge the conventional wisdom, that to succeed it takes a team both within and beyond the organization and that “cash is queen” in a company.
