CAP Job Descriptions

This page will list CAP jobs as they arise.  Please check back to see when new ones are available.

 

For all of the positions listed there are two types of positions available.

 

General CAP – Work-study students who work at positions on either a day-by-day or long term basis.  Responsibility is limited to showing up on time and satisfactorily working with other students and community partners.

 

CAP Managers – Work-study students who plan, coordinate, staff and oversee individual CAP programs.  CAP managers take on the added responsibility of being responsibly for CAP students while on-site with and on the way to and from community partners.  These added responsibilities are compensated for with added pay.  A formal list of CAP manager responsibilities is available HERE.

 

Bernon Center Office Assistant (no longer searching, please check again next semester)

Wellesley, MA

Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays

Afternoons (hours to be set upon employment)

Position will entail basic office duties such as filing, creating and updating spread sheets, creating informative materials.  Being self motivated and confident are musts.  Graphic design skills are a plus, but no required.

 

Fiske School (PRIORITY POSITION)

Wellesley, MA

Literacy Enrichment Program

Tuesdays

12 - 3:15 PM

Assist kindergarten teacher with afterschool literacy programs for children.  Must have valid drivers licence and either be van certified or become van certified.  Transportation provided.

 

Barton Road Afterschool Program (PRIORITY POSITION)

Wellesley, MA

Mondays and Wednesdays

4-6 PM

Vollunteer at the newly created after-school program that will take place at the Barton Road public housing complex in Wellesley.  Activities will include arts and crafts, cooking, homework help and recreation.  Transportation provided.

 

Fridays with Friends

Fridays throughout the semester

11-5 PM

Work with other Babson students at various agencies throughout the Boston area.  Transportation provided

 

Saturdays in Service

Saturdays throughout the semester

9 AM - 4 PM

Work with other Babson students at various agencies throughtout the Babson area.  Trasportation provided

 

Senior Game Night

Elderly Activities

Thursdays

6-8 PM

Lead games and activities at local senior centers.  Transportation provided

 

Harvard Square Church Meals Program,

Cambridge, MA

Thursdays

4:30-8 PM

Work with various community members to prepare, serve and clean-up free meals served to about 100 patrons.  Transportation provided.

 

Senior Computer Tutoring,

Babson College

Various dates and times

Tutor seniors on the Babson Campus in basic computer usage.  Flexible dates and times available.  Requires setting up own appointments.

 

NFTE (National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship),

Various Locations

Various dates and times

Mentor, tutor and advise disadvantaged young people on such things as business plans, finance and other business disciplines.  A NFTE office is located in Woodland Hills on the Babson Campus.

 

Charles River ARC,

Needham, MA

Flexible Schedule

Work with mentally challenged children and adults.  Activities include recreation, vocational assistance and general companionship.  Campus is located less than a mile from Babson.  Transportation NOT provided.

 

Needham YMCA,

Needham, MA

Flexible Schedule

Various schedules and positions available.  Positions include childcare, administration and youth sports programs.  Transportation NOT provided.

 

Natick Community Organic Farm,

Natick, MA

Flexible Schedule

Work on a fully operational organic farm.  Help weed, harvest and care for animals as you spend some time outdoors.  This is for those who like to get their hands dirty.  Transportation NOT provided.

 

Youth and Government

Qunicy, MA

Thursdays and 3 Saturdays until March

Assist high school students in the Quincy area prepare to take over the state's capital.  At the end of this program students will hold mock sessions in the state Senate, House and Judiciary.  If you liked Model United Nations, student government or debate club in high school then you should enjoy volunteering at this program.  Transportation is provided.
