Global Program Services (GPS) has completed its interviewing and selection process for the Undergraduate Spring 2005 Management Consulting Field Experience (MCFE) Program. Once again, GPS offered an interesting array of projects which resulted in the placement of 65 undergraduate students. The teams of 3-5 students, including both seniors and second semester juniors, will earn academic credit while working as consultants for the following 15 companies:
- Adventure Ireland
- Ardan Day Spa
- Courageous Sailing Center
- Cape Code Life
- Danger Planet Games & Hobbies
- Dover Town Library
- Fay School
- Gotshalk’s Soccer, Inc.
- Jimmy Tingle’s Off Broadway
- Mass Office of Int'l Trade & Investment
- PostMark Press, Inc.
- Saint-Gobain Abrasives
- Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts
- Wellness, Inc
- Young Entrepreneurs Alliance
In addition, this semester GPS is pleased to include two projects with an international context which also fulfills the experiential component required by the new undergraduate Global Management Concentration. These projects include Adventure Ireland and the Massachusetts Office of International Trade and Investment (MOITI). Adventure Ireland is a cultural immersion program located in County Donegal, Ireland, designed to provide US high school students with an educational and adventurous Irish cultural experience, and Babson students will consult on marketing strategy and brand management of this program. Respectively, MOITI is an agency which helps to promote exports of Massachusetts companies through offices in Germany, Mexico and the Japan External Trade Organization. This MCFE team will advise MOITI on identifying specific Massachusetts industry clusters that would best match premier global trade shows in Europe and recommend strategies to increase participation. Thirteen of the projects will be managed by a graduate student who will be applying the management skills and theories learned in a graduate level project management course to immediately use with their MCFE team.
