Global Program Services is pleased to report outstanding participation in the spring 2006 Management Consulting Field Experience (MCFE) Program. Babson’s Undergraduate Consulting Program recently placed 90 students (out of 110 applicants) on one of 19 consulting projects. Sixteen companies and organizations will benefit from high-level strategic consultations with the Babson student teams. Consulting teams consist of 3-5 highly motivated seniors and juniors along with an MBA Project Manager or Executive in Resident who manages and advises students on their project.
Undergraduate students receive four credits related to their project area, which typically includes strategy consultations in Management, Marketing, IT, and/or Finance, or a combination of these disciplines related to their studies and career interests. MBA students who participate in the program also receive three credits towards a Project Management Course at the graduate level. Both undergraduate and MBA students submit an application and resume and participate in an interview for placement on a team.
Many undergraduate students have a strong interest in working with Not-For-Profit Organizations, as they recognize that these companies highly value and implement the work and recommendations of the Babson consulting teams. While interviewing for projects, students often express their sincere desire to help a not-for-profit organization and give back to the community. This sense of social responsibility in encouraged and highly valued at Babson, beginning with students in their freshman year with the Foundation Management Experience (FME) Program. It’s great to see students who are close to graduation embracing this work ethically and philosophically. The outstanding work of students on a not-for-profit MCFE can be nominated to receive a cash prize awarded by Shelby Cullom Davis Foundation. This award is presented to outstanding teams on Founder’s Day for their excellence and commitment to service.
Global Program Services is please to announce that students will be working with the following not-for-profit organizations and companies this spring including: Community Boating; Cradles to Crayons, Habitat for Humanity, Little Kids Rock, Massachusetts Business Alliance for Education, Project Just Because, Inc., United Planet, Veteran Business Owners Initiative, and Xavus Solutions LLC.
Additionally, Spring MCFE offerings include a wide variety of projects—both large and medium in scope—for consumer-focused organizations such as AOL and El Dorado Marketing Group, as well as start-up, entrepreneurial organizations (some sponsored by Babson MBA graduates) including American Investigative Services, Inc., General Technology Solutions, Mimoco, New Basics, and Raise the Bar.
Students will conduct their project research and analysis from January through April and present their findings and recommendations to clients in a final presentation the first week in May, 2006.
