Babson College Europe, Middle East and Africa Advisory Board Mission Statement 2009

Purpose:

  • Take Babson to the world.
  • Advise the President of Babson, Glavin Center, Advancement and other Babson offices on the strategic directions of the school presence and actions within EMEA regions (Europe, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa).
  • Help represent the school to local institutions within EMEAs countries, increase the Babson brand awareness in those countries, create opportunities for brand and contents visibility, achieve an institutional presence and network of relationships aimed at providing a significant base for any expansion projects or activity that the school may have in those countries.
  • Explore channels to introduce and/ or run non-degree programs with an emphasis on expanding visibility and brand recognition for the College (Ex: Executive Education, Glavin Programs).
  • Identify foundations and individuals to financially support our school.
  • Open doors for the establishment of projects with local universities partners.
  • Heighten and sustain Babson profile in EMEA Region.
  • Establish a framework and provide support for international scholarships and help identify and encourage those eligible for them.
  • Support undergraduate and graduate admissions.
  • Promote the creation of EMEA Region internships for Babson students.
  • Provide career mentoring advice to the most meritorious students and graduates.
  • Facilitate the creation of foundations or structures that allow EMEA to achieve tax-deductibility for the contributions to Babson.

Board members

Board members will be asked to join the board for three years, renewable upon invitation for three more years. Terms will be staggered after three years.

Board members will nominate a chairman every three years. Board members will have to satisfy the following basic requirements:

  • Active ties to the Babson Global Community.
  • Regular attendance of the annual EMEA meeting.
  • Commit to donate annually US $5,000.00 (either by giving or getting funds from another source).
  • Commitment to support and/or lead activities locally Introduce new members to the board
  • Attend two out of three meetings

Board Meetings (may have 2 meetings)

Meeting in the EMEA region.

Focus

Increase opportunities for Babson brand awareness within the EMEA Region.

  • Increase European alumni networking and fund raising opportunities.
  • Expand networking with Asian, Latin-American, and American Alumni, academic and private institutions (es: Bocconi, EM Lyon, ESADE).
  • Advise, support and feed contents for local alumni club activities.
  • Increase info sharing and communication between Babson and the Board.

Methodology

  • Work on specific objectives with a cross/task performance model. Board members from each country should feed a list of priority actions in their own country.
  • Each country “Action List” will be discussed with Babson and each board member will be assisted in the follow up phase by a Babson representative.

Actions

  • Expand the Board to Eastern European, Middle Eastern and African board members.
  • Establish an EMEA Advisory Board/Babson task force for the purpose of creating event “formats” and contents to support regional clubs activities beyond social networking in conjunction with the Alumni office.
  • Assist Babson in allocating funds generated by the Board memberships and local events.
