Director: Professor Jean-Pierre Jeannetundefined

Dr. Jeannet is the F. W. Olin Distinguished Professor of Global Business and Director of The Glavin Center. Dr. Jeannet has primary teaching responsibility for two courses: global marketing and global strategic management. He was a visiting lecturer at Keio University Graduate School of Business in Japan, and he has a dual appointment as professor of global marketing and strategy at Institute of Management Development (IMD) in Lausanne, Switzerland. Dr. Jeannet has taught in numerous management development programs in the United States, Asia, and Europe.

Dr. Jeannet has previous work experience in banking in Switzerland and New York and has been active as a consultant with many international firms including AVEBE, Coutts, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, DSM, Huntsman Chemicals, ICI, Lego, Nokia, Novartis, Polaroid, Serono, Siemens, Sulzer, Swatch, and Zeneca. Dr. Jeannet also serves on the board of PubliGroupe, an international media firm, and Swiss House in Boston, as well as president of ECCH at Babson Ltd. His research and teaching focus on marketing strategy, global marketing, and global business strategies.

He is the author of more than 100 teaching cases and several books, including Managing with a Global Mindset, Technology Transfers Within Multinational Corporations, and Competitive Marketing Strategies in a European Context, as well as coauthor of Marketing Problems, Cases in International Marketing, Global Marketing: Strategies and Cases, and Cases in Marketing Management.

Tom Simon

As Program & Business Development Manager of  the Europe Institute, Tom manages the day to day operations of the Institute and plays a vital role in the overall planning and administration.  He is responsible for all aspects of executive education programs catering to European non-profit clients and academic institutions with an emphasis on expanding the Institute's client base.   His extensive background in international business includes eight years in finance and business development with Cisco Systems in France and the Netherlands. In addition, Tom has traveled extensively in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. While pursuing his undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin, Tom studied at Alliance Française in Paris during his junior year, and continued his studies at the International Management from the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird), where he received his Master’s degree.  

 

 

 

Louise Lawson

Louise Lawson joined Babson in the summer of 2005 as the Program Coordinator for the Europe Institute.  In her role she coordinates the logistical details of the Europe Institute Programs.  Louise brings over 15 years of Project Management experience having previously worked in client relations for Putnam Investments, and fundraising for Catholic Charities and Harvard Medical School.  She holds a bachelor’s degree in American History from Pine Manor College. 


 


Executive-in-Residence: Karl Bochsler KarlB

Karl Bochsler acts as Executive in Residence at Babson College supporting the Europe Institute and furthermore as independent Consultant after resigning from the Executive Board of Tractebel Energy Services in February 2003. He has been focussing on Management-Buy-Out projects in the European Facilities Management Market clarifying strategic feasibilities. In Tractebel Energy Services with about 30’000 people and a revenue of > 3 billion $, Karl Bochsler formed part of the Executive Board following the acquisition of Sulzer Infra Group by the Belgian Tractebel Corporation in 2001. Before the sale of Sulzer Infra, he directed as President and CEO this Group (around 6000 people, revenue 1 b$) being the European leader in Engineering & Construction of technical infrastructure for commercial, industrial and public buildings. He also formed part of the Executive Board of Sulzer Corporation in 1994-2001. He strongly emphasized the development of managers and employees through customized multidisciplinary and multicultural programs, which were lead by the own Infra Group academy. His international Management-Experience, his strong belief in sustainable development and in the great potential of people have been guiding criteria for his today’s involvement.   Karl holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering; IMD Lausanne, Switzerland (PED 19, 1980); Harvard Programs.

Leslie Charm, Entrepreneurship, B.S.B.A, Babson College, M.B.A., Harvard UniversityLCharm00                                                           

Professor Charm has been a partner in the firm of Youngman & Charm since 1972. The firm specializes in directorship functions for firms owned and operated by entrepreneurs and in assisting companies that are experiencing operating and/or financial problems. Youngman & Charm has operated in a variety of industries, channels of distribution, and has been involved in many successful financings and acquisitions and mergers. From 1977 through 1990, Professor Charm was chairman and president of a major distributor and specialty retail chain. He has been active in other specialty marketing companies, and served as a member of the Board of Directors of the International Franchise Association from 1983 to 1988. He is currently director of the National Association of Corporate Directors-New England, as well as director of several public and privately-held firms.

Professor Charm has taught throughout the world on a variety of topics regarding entrepreneurship. He is on the President's Council at Babson, and is the recipient of the Appel Award for Entrepreneurship. He is also a Babson undergraduate alumnus.


Anne Donnellon, Management, B.A., University of Cincinnati, M.A., Columbia University,

Dr. Donnellon has taught at Harvard Business School and the University of Colorado. She teaches negotiation, cross-functional teamwork, and organizational design in the MBA and executive education programs at Babson. She authored Team Talk: The Power of Language in Team Dynamics, and developed an interactive corporate training product entitled Teams That Work, both published by the Harvard Business School Press. Professor Donnellon has also published numerous journal articles and coauthored several other books. She teaches in many executive programs both in the U.S. and abroad, and has consulted to numerous companies. Areas of expertise include organizational behavior, women, and women and business.

 

Dr. Michael Gordon, Entrepreneurship, B.S., Worcester Polytechnic Institute,
PhD., Massachusetts Institute of Technologyundefined

Dr. Gordon has had extensive experience in diverse areas of entrepreneurship, education, public speaking and science.  After twelve years in research, development and management at Polaroid Corporation and Celanese Plastics Company, he pursued a career in entrepreneurship. He founded four companies: a plastics injection molding company; a company which made products for the control of static electricity (Plastic Systems, Inc); a network for entrepreneurs and investors (the Venture-Preneurs Network); and a private investment and consulting firm (Quantum Ventures). One of his companies, Plastic Systems, Inc., was sold to a public British company. He is currently building an internet venture, AngelDeals.com, a virtual global network which brings capital resources to emerging ventures.

Gordon is a management consultant and executive coach on funding strategies, revitalization, corporate entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial leadership for competitive advantage. He seeks to “build great companies”. For the past 12 years, he has been teaching entrepreneurship as an Adjunct Professor at Babson College and for the past seven years at the Harvard Extension School. His areas of entrepreneurial expertise include "New Venture Creation," Living the Entrepreneurial Experience," Financing the Growing Venture," and "Corporate Entrepreneurial Strategies for Competitive Advantage."

H. David Hennessey, Marketing, B.A., B.S., Norwich University, M.B.A., Clark University, Ph.D., New York Universityundefined

Dr. Hennessey has taught at Fairleigh Dickinson University and Norwich University. He was the director of marketing at Interpace Corporation and a market analyst at American Can Company. Dr. Hennessey has consulted for AT&T, ICI, Jardine Matheson, Compaq, Philips, DSM, and Ansell Edmont. He served on the boards of Synergistics Corporation and the Sales & Marketing Executives of Greater Boston. Dr. Hennessey has taught in Latin America, Europe, and Japan. He has taught executive programs at Babson Executive Education for SAP, Pitney Bowes, IBM, Zeneca, Ares Serono, Home Depot, and others.

Dr. Hennessey is an associate of Ashridge Management College in Berkhamsted, England, and visiting professor at IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland. His research interests are global account management and the development of global marketing strategies. He is the coauthor of Global Marketing: Strategy and Cases, 5th Edition, 2001, and How to Write a Marketing Plan, 3rd Edition, 1998. Areas of expertise include: Marketing, Building Customer Relationship, Business to Business Marketing, Global Marketing, and Sales and Marketing.
