MBA7505 Leading In a Hyperconnected World
3 credits
Look around, and whether it is at the level of the individual, the business enterprise, or society at large, it is evident that we live in a world that is much more uncertain and complex than the world of yesteryear, and this in no small part is because today's world is much more interconnected. Not just interconnected but hyperconnected, a hyperconnected world in which ramifications of a development or decision here and now inexplicably are felt in many theres and thens; new threats and opportunities pop up in the most unexpected ways and places; and yesterday's mindsets, constructs, and experiences offer little help today, let alone the unknown tomorrow. It is in this hyperconnected world that we must successfully live, manage, and lead. And the question naturally arises, Will I be prepared - and how do I prepare - not just to get by but proactively thrive in such a world, not just upon graduation but over the course of my life and my career? The course, which will deliberately be designed and delivered as a "studio" course, aims, first, to extend and deepen Babson's graduating MBA students' awareness, knowledge, and analysis of some of the critical characteristics, drivers, and dynamics of interconnectedness as they impact individuals, enterprises, industries, societies, nations, and regions. And having done so, second, to help prepare the students to thrive in this hyperconnected world that awaits them.
