This course is designed to help students understand how firms that operate across borders handle their finances, and the opportunities they have to reduce their cost of capital and raise their stock market valuation. Companies of all sizes can take advantage of international capital market opportunities, and can gain from operating in several currency zones. They can protect their profit margins while retaining opportunities to earn extraordinary profits in different currencies. The major themes covered will be short-term financial management of the multinational company; long-term financial management of the multinational company; and techniques for maximizing stock market value in multiple national stock markets. The opportunities that international portfolio investment created for companies that operate in more than one currency zone will be considered. In addition, the topic of dealing in countries with inconvertible currencies will be discussed.
