Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why should I pursue this concentration?

A: Employers are increasingly seeking managers with global management knowledge. Managers need to be able to think globally even when acting locally. There are global ramifications to almost any decision made in business today and this concentration allows Babson students to compete in this marketplace.

Q: Who will see that I pursued this concentration? How can I use it to my advantage?

A: Completion of the concentration is recognized on your Babson transcript. Additionally, your network will be expanded through the opportunity to host visiting scholars and attend speaker events specifically planned for the concentration. Outside of Babson, it will act as a differentiator on your resume and will be a talking point at interviews.

Q: If I sign up for the Global Management Concentration, am I prohibited from pursuing a particular career context?

A: No. This concentration is intended to be used as an add on to the career contexts. Students can pursue both at the same time. In fact, many of the classes that can be counted towards the concentration can also be counted towards a particular career context.

Q: By when do I need to complete and submit my online-declaration?

A: The online-declaration submission deadlines are as follows:

Q: Is there a language requirement?

A: No. There is no language requirement associated with this concentration.

Q: What if I have been involved in a number of the concentration offerings, but my credit breakdown doesn’t match the requirements?

A: Contact Sharon Thomas Ambrose (sthomas@babson.edu)  in the Office of International Programs with a detailed breakdown of courses you have pursued or plan to pursue to see if you are eligible for an exception.

Q: If I studied abroad in college, can I be waived from the experiential requirement?

A: No. The experiential portion of the concentration must be fulfilled at Babson as it requires a business application of the work done while abroad and the credits must come from the school.

Q: As an evening student, how can I structure my required courses so that I can complete the concentration?

A: For evening students, either MOB 7000 Strategic Management (old curriculum) or MOB 8400 Competitive Environment & Strategy (new curriculum) is a pre-requisite for MOB 7559: Global Strategic Management. To enroll in MOB 7000/MOB 8400, students must have completed all four of the 5-credit cluster courses. Students interested in the concentration should take the 5-credit cluster courses as soon as possible in their core curriculum so that they can take Strategy and Global Strategic Management as early as possible.
