Description:
The Competitive Advantages in the New Asia program provides a two week hands-on experience for students interested in an in-depth look at key Asian management systems and concepts. Approximately twenty-five students will travel to Nagoya, Japan and Seoul, Korea to benchmark the designs and operations of value delivery systems in various industries including manufacturing and service. This program will design mini-consulting projects for selected local SMEs (Small to Medium Enterprises) that can provide participants with an in-depth understanding of the local business environment, as well as field experience in Asia. Participants will have the rare opportunity to meet Asian business and government leaders to develop a mutual understanding of the different business philosophies and practices of Asian and American managers. In previous years students have visited cultural points of interest including Atsuta Jingu Shrine, Nagoya Castle, Toyota Automobile Museum, Asahi Beer Nagoya Factory in Japan; participated in the Seoul city tour and attended a cultural show (NANTA) in Korea.
Transportation: The program travel dates are May 22 – June 6, 2010. A group flights will be arranged by the program, and details on the flights will be provided to enrolled students through the program manager. It is important to note that the international flight (US to Japan/Korea to US) cost is not included in the program fee.
