Program descriptionFounded in 1622, the University of Salzburg achieved great prestige during the reign of the Habsburg Empire and was one of the most famous universities of 17th and 18th-century Europe. After WWII, the University was re-established and is now flourishing. The University of Salzburg capitalizes on its position as a leading university in the center of Europe. An interdisciplinary Department of International Relations and Political Science draws students from around the world to meet with faculty and each other to help solve the problems of the 21st century. Faculty from this department teach classes in English exclusively for international students. Students can study effects of trade agreements and multinational corporations on development or how to solve a crisis in international conflicts. The University provides a supportive atmosphere in which to learn German because of its international outlook and faculty committed to helping students

GPA requirement2.7 GPA You must have at least this GPA at the time of application and the semester prior to exchange. Failure to maintain adequate academic standing will result in your removal from the program.
Language RequirementsYou are highly encouraged  to complete the beginning level of German to participate and to enroll in the 5-credit German course duing the semester.
Language NotesThere is a two-week intensive non-credit German language orientation at the beginning of the term.
Beginning language courses are counted as General College Credit. Intermediate and advanced language courses are counted as Advanced Liberal Arts.

Scholarships availableAIFS in Salzburg, AIFS Premier Campus and Minority scholarships are available to students staying in Salzburg. For more information on the application process and deadlines, visit the AIFS website.
Non-credit internshipsAIFS students in business or related majors, who are fluent in both written and spoken German and have relevant experience, can participate in an internship to gain firsthand kowledge of Austrian or international commerce. Students can apply for business practicum credit through Babson.
