Obligations of the Alliance CompanyThe alliance company plays an important part in the MBA learning process. Therefore, the company must clearly designate an internal company resource and an alternate resouce who will take primary responsibility for the team. This project resource will:
- work with the faculty advisor to define and focus the projects (in particular, the second phase),
- agree to provide under nondisclosure financial and other information to the project team,
- coordinate all key contact persons within the company for interviewing and other data-gathering activities, and
- periodically review the project status and make the final presentation arrangements, if necessary.
There is no cost for the project aside from regular business expenses associated with conducting the research and preparing the presentations (i.e. telephone calls, costs for printing and binding the presentation report, etc.) as agreed to at the start of the program.
BCAP Teams
BCAP teams are comprised of five or six first-year MBA students, who come from very diverse cultural, educational and work backgrounds. As reflected in the profile of MBA students, team members bring experience in areas such as business ownership, management, sales, finance, engineering, information technology, education and health care.
Each BCAP team has a faculty advisor who acts as a liaison to the alliance company. The project, however, is the sole responsibility of the student team. Students and the faculty advisor sign nondisclosure agreements, ensuring confidentiality of all proprietary company information.
BCAP teams are given designated work space at Olin Hall on the Babson Campus, and will not need space at the alliance company. Students will commit, on average, one day per week to the BCAP projects. As designed, the first year curriculum sets aside time specifically for conducting the BCAP project.
