The Management Consulting Field Experience (MCFE) is a competitive program that links the business community with Babson College students. Each MCFE project is staffed by a team of two to five students with an objective of examining a challenging business situation. The assignments take place in a variety of business environments, which have included Fortune 500 companies, entrepreneurial ventures, and privately held firms and last for approximately fourteen weeks. Students earn academic credit for working as consultants.
Through the Custom MCFE option, students have the opportunity of forming MCFE teams of 2-5 members, or conducting a client based project as an individual. With Custom MCFE, students both put their own teams together and find their own MCFE project within a business and/or industry that is tailored specifically to their career goals and interests, and negotiate the project scope directly with the client. This option provides the flexibility of participating in either a full semester project for 3.0 credits or half semester (session I or II) for 1.5 credits. The custom MCFE is managed the same as other MCFE’s, where by teams are assigned an advisor and are given a clear deliverable schedule with program guidelines. Students are expected to attend the MCFE Orientation at the start of the semester. In order to participate in a Custom MCFE students are required to submit to Global Program Services the Custom MCFE Proposal Form, available on this website, as well as detailed deadlines for the Custom MCFE application process.
