How do I register for a MCFE?
Complete and submit the online application with attached resume. Sign up for an interview and make sure your application and resume is turned into the MCFE office the day before your scheduled interview. The MCFE is a three-credit course.
Where is the MCFE office located?
The MCFE program is offered by the Global Program Services Office, located in Nichols Hall.
How are students selected?
Student selection is based on academic performance, faculty recommendation, willingness to work as a team member, and individual strengths relative to the project. Additional selection criteria include initiative, leadership, responsibility, and reliability.
How are the MCFE teams structured?
Each team is assigned a company supervisor and a MCFE Advisor, who is either faculty of Executive in Residence. The MCFE Advisor provides supervision and coordination of communication and logistics between the team and the company.
Do students get to choose their own teams?
Students are encouraged to apply as a team, but are allowed to apply individually. If students apply as a team that does not necessarily mean that each student will be accepted into the MCFE program. The Program Manager assembles students who apply individually into groups.
Can students select their own projects?
All students give their top 3 project choices. Projects are assigned to teams based on the skill set of each team. Students can also submit a custom MCFE.
How do I put together a custom MCFE?
If you have a specific company, or prospect companies, you and a pre-formed team would like to do a MCFE with, you should notify Global Program Service's MCFE manager with: 1. names of the students on your team; 2. the name of the perspective companies and contacts; 3. brief description of the prospective project. Then the program manager will provide you with the information about MCFE for the company and a sponsor application.
Who will grade me?
The MCFE Advisor will assign your final grade. Grades are assigned on a group basis.
What types of projects does the MCFE program offer?
The MCFE program offers projects in fields such as marketing, MIS, finance, and management. The majority of MCFE projects take place in for profit companies, but there are some not for profit companies as well. MCFE sponsors have included Fortune 500 companies, established growing companies and privately held firms. Projects deal with current concerns of sponsor companies in one or more functional areas.
