Bloomberg Certification Program Tutorial
The Bloomberg Certification program, designed for finance professionals, is a two track program designed to equip users with the necessary skills to become proficient in the use of the Bloomberg Professional service. The program offers structured training on Bloomberg functionality in Fixed Income and Equity. The Certification Program, recognized world wide, will signal to prospective employers that you have attained a high level of competency in using the Bloomberg Professional Service as well as optimize job performance.
How to get started:
- To learn full details about the Bloomberg Certification program, please familiarize yourself with the CERT <GO> function on Bloomberg. This function is a guide to the full course curriculum and provides program guidelines. In addition, you will use CERT <GO> to access online course information and exams. Visit BU <GO> to watch online interactive seminars for each course.
- Each participate is REQUIRED to have their own BLOOMBERG login in order to participate in the program. To create a username and password type UREG <GO> and follow the prompts. You will have to speak with Bloomberg Customer service during this process to validate your user name and id so please have a cell phone with you.
- Head sets are required. Consequently, bring your own or check out a set from the Horn Library Information Desk.
- To print a copy of each class hand out go to DOCS <GO>, search using your course code (i.e. E101), choose the course guide in the language you need, choose download pdf. The pdf's will download to the My Documents folder on the computer. Write down the 7 digit document code in the upper right hand corner of the download screen. This will be the name of the downloaded file (i.e. 2029732 for Getting Started). Then print the document to the printer attached to the Bloomberg terminal.
- Below is a summary of courses. You have the option of obtaining a certification in both fixed income and equity. You must pass 8 courses for both fixed income and equity (3 intro courses and 5 additional courses). Note: A set of Electives are offered which are not required but can be used as a replacement course if you do not pass one of the original 5 track courses.

Exam Requests:
- At the end of each video, a code is provided and individuals must request exams by sending a message to the HELP desk by typing CERT <GO> and selecting "contact us." Please indicate the course number and the code to have your exam enabled. If you attended a course for certification you must follow the same procedure and indicate the date and city of the seminar attended. You can not request more than 3 exams at one time.
Exam Scores:
- A grade of 70% or greater must be achieved in order to pass each course. If your score is lower than 70%, please note we no longer reset exams.
Certification Issuance:
- Upon completion of 8 courses, send a message to the help desk by typing CERT <GO> and selecting "contact us" to request your certificate. Please specify EQ, FI or both and provide a mailing address (no PO Box accepted). All certificates will take approximately 4-6 weeks to receive.
