Creating a Company InfoPack

 .: About Company InfoPacks :.

A Company InfoPack is a compilation of up to the minute information on a public domestic company culled from key Cutler Center and Horn Library resources. Please refer to InfoPack Coverpage Template to view full contents of an InfoPack.

See tutorial below to create an InfoPack when preparing to meet or interview with a company. All recommended resources are available off campus with the exception of Bloomberg and Factset.  The tutorial is applicable for international and private companies, however, information on these companies is often limited.

When conducting in-depth research on a company, please be sure to include the most recent 10K and other SEC filings.

Company InfoPack Tutorial:

Step 1 – Datamonitor Report:
Log into Ebscohost, choose the Business Source Complete database and click on the Company Profiles link on green tool bar.

Search for the company’s name; open the PDF file and print in the library (for 2-sided printing). This market research report usually contains a full overview of the company including SWOT analysis.

Step 2 - Capital IQ:
Log into Capital IQ and search for your company. Print the following pages, when available. Word documents or Excel sheets will open. Each of these items is listed in the menu list on the left hand side of hte page:

  • CIQ report (Word): Top of Company Summary - Tearsheet page.
  • Corporate time line (Word)
  • Long business description (Word)
  • Products (Word)
  • Executive Compensation (Word): People - Compensation
  • Key Stats (Excel, print the entire workbook.)
  • M&A placement (Excel)
  • Customers (Word)
  • Suppliers (Word)
  • Public Offerings (Word)
  • Event Calendar (Word)

Step 3 – Mergent History, Debt & Capital Structure:
Log into Mergent (formerly Moody’s) and search for your company by name or ticker symbol. Select the Create Reports tab. Under Company Details, select History, Joint Ventures, Subsidiaries, Long Term Debt, and Capital Structure. Click the Create Company Report button at the bottom and select output in PDF format. Print report.

Step 4 - Thomson One Banker:

Log into Thomson One Banker and enter company name or ticker. Print the following information:

  • Ownership Data: Select Ownership in the left hand menu and print the Ownership Summary by selecting the PDF option provided on the top right.
  • Earnings Estimates: select the Estimates tab and print the Overview (also referred to as the "Thomson Estimates Tearsheet") by selecting the print icon provided on the top right.
  • Research: select Research in the left hand menu and print 3 of the most relevant analyst reports.
  • Letter to Share Holders: select Filings in the left hand menu; then select Content Profile. Select the Annual Report and print the Letter to Share Holders. The letter can be found on the first few pages of the report.
  • Forward Looking Statements in 10K: in that same area (Filings – Content Profile), select the most recent 10K and search for "Forward Looking Statements". (Click Ctrl+F, enter "forward looking" and click Next. Highlight the relevant section, right click, choose Print, choose "Selection" instead of "All", click Print.

Step 5 – KLD Socrates:
(Note: You must disable all pop up blockers to view the report. May not work in Firefox.)

Log into Socratesand search for your company by ticker or name. Click View Profile under the Profile heading. Click the Print .pdf button on the left hand side of the screen to download/print the social analysis report.

Step 6 – Factiva:
Log into Factiva and click the Companies/Markets link in the green menu bar at the top. Click the Company link under the green menu bar. Search for the company by name or ticker symbol, selecting your company if a search results list is returned. Click Build A Report from the menu box on the left.

  • Business Summary: choose Peer Comparison and click Add.
  • Financials & Market Activity: choose Key Ratios and click Add.
  • News: choose the Full Text radio button. Then choose Latest News, Press Releases, and Trade Articles and click Add.

Click Build Report. Click the printer icon at the top of the page to print the report.

Step 7 – Value Line:
Log into Value Line Research Center. (You may need to select The Value Line Research Center on the page that displays. Either:

  • Type in your company’s ticker symbol in the small search box at the top of the screen. (There is a symbol lookup if you don’t know the ticker.) OR
  • Choose the edition you want to search from the Quick Index menu on the left, click Look up Company, and enter your company’s name or ticker symbol.

Click the PDF icon at the top of the page to print the one page summary.

Step 8 - Morningstar:
Log into Morningstar. Enter your company’s name/ticker into the search box at the top of the screen (under the tabs). Select Analyst Research from the left hand menu. Select Formatted Report from the left hand menu (at the bottom) and print the report.

Step 9 – Bloomberg: (On campus only.)
Go to a Bloomberg terminal in the Cutler Center. Search for the following and print screen shots (when available). You will use the <F8 Equity> and <GO> keys. The format you will use to search is: company ticker <F8 Equity> function <GO>. Functions are listed below:

  • Main Description Page: DES
    While in this section also get:
    • Revenue & EPS Graphs: Hit the Page Fwd key until you find this section.
    • Geographic Segmentation: Hit the Page Fwd key until you find this section.
  • Price Graph (change date range to encompass the past year): GP
  • Relative Returns: RG

Example: Google, Inc.
GOOG <F8 Equity> DES <GO>

Step 10 – Factset: (On campus only.)
Go to a Factset terminal in the Cutler Center and look up your company. Using the left hand menu, select the reports below and print in landscape format.

  • Estimates:
    • Consensus Outlook
    • Broker Detail (Expected Growth & Estimate changes
    • Ratings & Targets
  • Company Debt:
    • Debt Summary
  • Comparison:
    • All Categories
    • Price Performance
    • Size & Valuation
    • Profitability & Growth
    • Leverage & Liquidity
    • Common Size

Step 11 - S&P NetAdvantage (Industry Surveys):
Log into S&P NetAdvantage. In the Publication Search on the top right:

  • Select Publication: Industry Survey
  • Search by: Ticker or Company Name
  • Enter: Enter your company's ticker or name
  • Click the yellow arrow next to the Enter text box to search.

If there is a relevant industry survey for your company, it will be displayed. Click the PDF link in the left hand menu, then click the printer icon in the pdf menu to print the survey.

Step 12 – IBIS World:
Log into IBISWorld. Select Industry Market Research from the drop-down menu next to the word SEARCH at the top of the page. Enter your target industry in the text box. Click the black arrow next to the text box to search. Select the appropriate report and click the PDF icon on the left to download/print the entire report.

Table of Contents:
Print out a table of contents for the Info Pack. You can download the Word Document Template and adjust where necessary (including company name).
