Second European Summit (2007)

The 2007 Summit was hosted by ESADE in Barcelona, Spain from September 6-10.   Over 60 participants from leading family businesses and universities throughout Europe gathered for 2 full days of interaction and learning.

The Summit is an annual exclusive gathering of the business families and academics who have participated in the STEP research.  It is a unique shared learning event in which participants have the opportunity to:
  • Apply research findings on business growth and continuity
  • Participate in live case discussions by successful companies q Benchmark practices against other business families
  • Receive personalized feedback from academic practitioners
  • Create action plans for enhancing entrepreneurship
  • Connect to a global community and leading-edge knowledge

Some of the research findings and issues discussed were:

  • Portfolio Entrepreneurship: How families are able to leverage their unique resources. 
  • Can a commitment to continuity be transgenerational entrepreneurship?
  • Does non-financial performance outcomes have to be a tradeoff with financial performance?
  • The influence of culture on entrepreneurial activities
  • How do families engage in strategic exit and renewal?
