The undergraduate and graduate Hatcheries provide a vibrant atmosphere conducive to sharing ideas and information among student teams, faculty, executives-in-residence and visiting entrepreneurs. The Hatcheries function like incubators where student entrepreneurs have access to professional and semiprivate workspace to grow their businesses.
Student business teams are awarded space in the Hatcheries one term at a time. To be awarded hatchery space, teams must submit an executive summary or business plan and complete a statement of intent that provides evidence of their commitment and ability to implement a new venture. Each team must have a faculty sponsor that endorses its ability to work in a dedicated and sophisticated manner to move the venture forward. To stay on track, the teams outline their goals and objectives at the beginning of each term and complete monthly progress reports. If they meet their goals, teams are often awarded space in the Hatcheries for subsequent terms.
There is no cost to participate in the Hatcheries but all student businesses are invited to contribute a percentage of their equity position to Babson through our Founder’s Fund. This Fund was created by alumni as a "venture capital fund" used to support Babson's mission of providing entrepreneurial education.
