The First Year Experience Seminar (FYE) is a required non-credit course which meets one hour per week for the first semester of the freshman year. The Family Enterprising section introduces topics and issues around family enterprising to those freshman interested or already involved in family firms. 

Goals of the First Year Experience Seminar are to:

• promote the utilization of the personal and academic support resources at Babson College, including the faculty advisor and Institute for Family Enterprising.
• facilitate the development of skills necessary to cope with the challenges of college life, such as: alcohol, drugs, and relationships. 
• assist in the development of time management, communication, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
• promote an awareness and clear understanding of the core competencies of leadership, teamwork, creativity and ethics and social responsibility.
• begin a dialogue on those issues unique and of interest to students from family firms.
