Muller Eligibility Criteria
  1. All Babson and Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering undergraduate students during the spring, summer, and fall semesters of 2007 are eligible to participate in the 2008 competition.

  2. All authors who will be competing in the Business Plan Competition must be currently enrolled and in good standing with Babson College and the community. Good standing is defined as having a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 and a record of exemplary citizenship. All authors must agree to release a copy of their official academic transcript and disciplinary record to the Blank Center staff. The Blank Center staff reserve the right to disqualify any author who does not meet the minimum grade requirement and/or is ineligible to be enrolled at Babson College as a result of a disciplinary action. Students who have pending criminal action against them are not eligible to compete as finalists.

  3. Individual students or groups are eligible to present their business plans.

  4. Students must have a entrepreneurship faculty sponsor in order to participate.

  5. Students submitting a plan must commit to presenting their business plan in the final competition on Wednesday, April 9, 2008, if chosen as a finalist.

  6. The plan must cover the whole business concept and implementation for a seed or start-up venture or for the expansion of a given enterprise. Proposals for tax shelter opportunities, real estate syndications, inventions, new product introductions, and industry analyses are not eligible.

  7. All authors must agree that the business plan they are submitting is their original work. The author(s) will retain all rights to the plan regarding its use at all times prior to and following the competition.

  8. By participating in the competition, author(s) give the competition organizers the right to post the business plan on a password protected website in order for alumni reviewers to access the plans, post comments, and assign a numerical value to plan.

  9. In the event the author(s) would like to update the information in the business plan during the final presentation, they cannot rewrite the original business plan, but can update the content (including financial projections) by submitting an update summary document. The substance of anything new (i.e. not in the original business plan) that the authors intend to say during the final presentation must be included in this update summary document. Please also include the name and phone number of the contact person(s), and copies of any documentation they may have for investors. The information submitted will be verified for accuracy. The update summary document must not be more than 2 pages. The update summary document must be emailed electronically (rossa@babson.edu) by the deadline stated in the schedule of deadlines (no exceptions will be made).

  10. Finalists are required to sign a waiver allowing the Arthur M. Blank Center for Entrepreneurship the express right to videotape their final presentation.

  11. All finalist author(s) will be asked to sign an audio video release form allowing Babson College the right to use the business plan presentation within the College for faculty, staff, students, the Arthur M. Blank Center for Entrepreneurship Exhibit Hall, and to be part of the archives at Babson.

  12. The winner(s) of the competition will be the individual or team whose plan conveys the most promising combination of significant capital gains potential, attractive investment possibilities, and actual implementation. In the event that there are no business plans of acceptable quality in the judgment of the judges, no prize will be awarded.
