With the support of Babson’s Latin American alumni, Babson and Universidad del Desarrollo held a customized version of Babson SEE for entrepreneurship educators in Santiago, Chile on September 25-27, 2006. Because of the important role that government policy plays in encouraging and supporting the creation of new enterprises in South America, policymakers from throughout the region also participated in the program.
In an intensive three-day program, 62 participants including academicians, policy makers, and entrepreneurs explored the entrepreneurial process, the “art and craft” of teaching and learning entrepreneurship, and core topics in the discipline. The goal of the program was to help all participants become more effective, innovative teachers of entrepreneurship. While the course was taught primarily in English, simultaneous translation was available for those more comfortable with Spanish. Topics covered in the program included: Mapping the Entrepreneurship Territory, New Venture Creation, Entrepreneurial Finance, Family Enterprising, Corporate Entrepreneurship, Entrepreneurship Curriculum Design, The Business Planning Process and The Entrepreneurial Mind in Action.
