WAL-MART SUSTAINABILITY BUSINESS PLAN FINALS APRIL 18-19, 2008
Wal-Mart and the Applied Sustainability Center at the Sam M. Walton College of Business (University of Arkansas) will be hosting the final Sustainability Business Plan Competition April 18-19, 2008. One team from each of the invited Universities (UC Berkeley, Stanford University, Arizona State University, Babson College, Dartmouth University, Rensselaer, Stillman, University of Arkansas, and Imperial College) will take part in this event.
In addition to cash prizes, the winning teams will be coached by a Wal-Mart executive prior to the finals in Arkansas. For the winning Babson team, airfare, hotel, and additional travel costs to Arkansas for the finals in April will be paid by the Arthur M Blank Center for Entrepreneurship. The winning teams will make fifteen minute presentations, followed by twenty minutes of Q&A on Friday, April 18th before a panel of judges, including venture capitalists, Wal-Mart executives, executives from Fortune 100 companies, and environmental non-governmental organizations.
The top two teams from Friday will make six-minute presentations, followed by three minutes of Q&A, at the Wal-Mart Saturday Morning Meeting on April 19th. The winning team will be determined by scores from the Friday competition (60%) and scores given by top Wal-Mart Executives (40%) on Saturday morning**. The winning team will be announced immediately following the presentations on Saturday.

- 1st Place - $20,000
- 2nd Place - $10,000
- 3rd-9th Places - $1,000
* Employees of Wal-Mart Corporation and direct dependents of employees of Wal-Mart Corporation may not participate in the competition. All participants must be at least 18 years of age.
** Please note that the format for the Saturday Morning Meeting presentations may have to be adjusted, but teams will be informed of alterations in advance.
