Featured Speaker

Kevin Lynch, author of Mission Inc.:The Practitioner's Guide to Social Enterprise, is a successful social entrepreneur who has made a difference through his work in the world of socially responsible business. In 1987, Kevin Lynch founded the marketing firm Lynch, Jarvis, and Jones in Minnesota. LJJ specialized in serving socially responsible businesses and became a leading firm in marketing the products of businesses by reaching customers via their values.

In 2004, he accepted the job as president of Rebuild Resources, Inc. Rebuild Resources is a nonprofit, values-driven business located in St. Paul, MN with revenues of over $2.2 million. Its mission is to help marginalized addicts and alcoholics find a path to sobriety through a program of spiritual recovery and by teaching them self-sufficiency and job skills. Kevin manages this business in ways that provide a safe, sober, supportive but non-enabling workplace for student employees while creating the earned income flow to operate the program.

Mission Inc., published in 2009, is Lynch's first book. It talks about the new breed of businesses springing up across the land called social enterprises. The primary purpose of a social enterprise, nonprofit or for-profit, is to support the common good. In this groundbreaking guide, former Symposium speaker and award-winner Julius Walls of the Greyston Bakery and Kevin draw on their own hard-won experiences and those of twenty other social entrepreneurs. They explore ten key paradoxes of social enterprises, and show how to navigate the extreme challenges and seize the tremendous opportunities these organizations present.

An inspirational leader, Kevin will share the spiritual and business lessons he's learned from over twenty years of entrepreneurship. Kevin is a great storyteller and has a knack for making important business philosophies practical and real. Kevin's message is needed today, more than ever. Our nation and our economy need business leaders with Kevin's values, integrity, and heart-centered leadership.
