Social Enterprise - The Lewis Initiative

The Lewis Initiative

The Lewis Initiative at Babson College examines the role of business in society, and supports the creation and continued growth of enterprises for purpose and profit. The initiative is instrumental in incorporating concerns for people and planet at Babson to educate leaders to create economic and social value everywhere.

Founded with the bold vision of Alan E. Lewis, chairman of Grand Circle Corporation, the initiative connects teaching, action, and research, and encourages and enables leaders with a social mission to provide solutions for the extraordinary challenges facing the world.

At the End of the Day, a four-part interactive forum

“At the End of the Day,” what will be the net value of all you have learned, lived, and created?

Today, leaders must think beyond the bottom line to how their enterprises impact society. This novel model includes challenges and difficult business decisions that require unique skills and competencies in its leaders.

Join us to learn from a pioneering business leader who embedded a sense of societal purpose in his company as a key driver of competitive advantage. In an unplugged interactive case study, Alan E. Lewis, founder and chairman of Grand Circle Corporation, will candidly share with you where he finds himself and his organization “At the End of the Day.”

Learn from the smart mistakes Lewis made growing his company with a triple bottom line. Challenge his gutsy leadership with hard questions about his experience as a social entrepreneur, philanthropist, and revolutionary in corporate responsibility. And, leave with an understanding of what you can do to make a real difference through your work “At the End of the Day.”
