Welcome back to a new school year everyone - and welcome to the incoming Undergraduate and Graduate students!
We've been very busy this summer with major changes in the library, both physical and virtual. This post is going to focus on the virtual - the new Library web site!
A new look, a new system...and integration in Facebook
The most obvious change is the face lift to the look & feel...but we also redesigned the structure of the site to be more intuitive and the layout so things are more findable. And we integrated a couple of new tools we think are very cool - we hope you do too!
Business FAQ: The Business FAQ is a great place to start your research. It offers quick answers to over 300 business questions using over 100 sources. And there's a search box right on the Library home page. How much easier can it get?
LibGuides: LibGuides are in-depth guides for subject/course based research, as well as use of Library databases and other resources, and Library services. The Research Guides search on the home page searches everything in LibGuides...or, if you click on the Research menu and choose Research Guides, you can browse through the guides alphabetically, by subject, most popular, most recent, or choose your favorite Librarian to see what they've published. Of course, you can also search to your heart's content within LibGuides.
You can also get LibGuides in Facebook! Just install the LibGuides app, choose Horn Library as your library & you're good to go. You can browse by subject, author, look through the popular guides and connect to the full application to search for more.
You'll also see a lot of search boxes for finding articles throughout the LibGuides. These searches go across many databases, instead of having to go into each one individually. The Find Articles search on the home page searches Academic Search Premier, Business & Company Resource Center, Business Source Complete, Expanded Academic, ProQuest & ScienceDirect all at the same time. Other subject based searches are available in many of the guides.
I'll be posting more about the site over the semester, but for now go forth & search! And remember you can always Ask a Librarian if you need help.
