In the company's 10-K report, be sure to see the following:
Item 1. Business for definition of industry segments, R & D, patents, competition (threats), raw materials (what do their suppliers provide?), government regulation and environmental law (are any of these threats?)
Item 7. Management Discussion for the company's strategy.
Find out what raw materials the company needs and use them as search terms, for example, Dell and chips, Gap and fabric, Starbucks and coffee beans.
