Basic Steps and the ebrary Reader
- Download the ebrary Reader at the ebrary site, if you have not done so already.
- Use the Simple Search form on the main screen or click Advanced for more options.
- Enter your terms with phrases in double quotes (" "), select options and click Search.
- Sort your results by Score, Title, Contributor (Author), or Date (most recent first), if desired.
- From the results list, click the book title or View to open the book and see the first instance of one of your terms.
- Use the ebrary Reader to navigate through your book or to print, highlight or bookmark and annotate sections.
Most of the commands on the ebrary Reader menu bar are for navigating through an ebook either page by page (arrows), to the next search term (<-? or ?->), Go to Page Number, and to zoom in and out. Simple Search This search box that lets you search by Author/Contributor, Title, Subject or Text. All words entered will be found in any order. Phrases should be enclosed in double quotes, such as "small business." This search screen also has an option to change the interface language to Spanish or Portuguese. Advanced Search The Advanced Search screen provides a form to search combinations of Subject, Title, Author/Contributor, Text or Publisher. Other limit options include: - items that are in or about Spanish or Portuguese language, and - document type, such as books (recommended primarily to limit to maps). Browse With this option you can browse titles by broad to narrow categories, such as Social Sciences > Commerce > Advertising. Click the + to open up more subcategories. |
Creating an ebrary AccountSign up for an ebrary account to use the following features: Bookmark - go to the page you want to bookmark and click the Bookmark icon. You can then make notes in the lower left box. The bookmarks, notes and highlights will be kept for your viewing the next time you log in and go to the same book. Highlight - use your cursor to highlight text and then click the Highlight icon. InfoTools Define, Explain, Locate or Translate by highlighting a word, choosing InfoTools, and then the desired command. These commands will open up a new window showing your word in Merriam-Webster dictionary, the Encyclopedia Britannica or other source. Locate will bring up a map for a specific location. |
