  2. Choose a date range but change TODAY to at least 30 days previous (our educational password does not allow access to the last 30 days)
  3. Click on Target Primary SIC and move down the list until you find the name of your industry. Double click on it. Then double click on the appropriate sub-heading/SIC code. Notice your choice changes to red. Click O.K. and Close.
  4. Click the Execute icon on the top menu bar and the number of Hits appears under "Request Description".
  5. Click Report on the top menu bar and choose New Custom.
  6. Choose the criteria to appear in your report. You may have to go to "Multiples" to obtain all the data you require. Click OK.

Scope

SDC Platinum provides online access to Securities Data Company's global merger and financing information. Horn Library has access to three of their databases; Global New Issues, Mergers & Acquisitions, and VentureXpert. Individual database updating varies (generally anywhere from daily to monthly), as do the start-up dates (ranging from 1970 to 1995). Customize search options by selecting from hundreds of data elements, as well as compare transactions worldwide.

Global New Issues database is suitable for researching initial public offerings around the world. Private equity and corporate/municipal debt issue coverage is most complete for the U.S. U.S. coverage includes underwritten calls, syndicated loans and Rule 144A offerings. International coverage includes medium-term note programs and warrants. Determine underwriter market share, which new issues are coming to market, private placements by industry; evaluate advisors and obtain data on stock swaps, leveraged buyouts and bankruptcy liquidations.

Mergers & Acquisitions database includes both U.S. and non-U.S. targets. The Joint Ventures and Alliances database not only covers joint ventures and strategic alliances, but also research and development agreements, sales and marketing agreements, and licensing and distribution pacts.

VentureXpert offers an extensive query and report database for the private equity industry. More information about VentureXpert is available on our VentureXpert page.
