Finding Information about Internet Start Ups

Other than reading the current news and industry magazines, it's hard to stay on top of the changes and developments in this fast paced industry. If you are interested in finding information about pre-existing e-businesses that may have gone public, search for the prospectuses using IPOcentral or the LexisNexis Academic company financial information section. The prospectus, form S-1, is the pre-effective registration statement, or Initial Public Offering filing, that is submitted when a company decides to go public. For private companies try to search for periodical articles in local news sources (Factiva).

For information on e-businesses that are being financed by venture capitalists, check the PriceWaterhouseCoopers Moneytree survey at http://www.pwcmoneytree.com/ or for local information check out the Boston Globe's quarterly venture capital report.

For more information check out the National Venture Capital Association Web site. Subscribe to Tech Partners VentureWire for daily updates on new funds and news on portfolio companies.
