If the tables are text format, you may have to use the Excel import wizard, or use paste data into column A in Excel and choose the Data menu then Text to Columns.
Statistical Abstract of the United States - Also at the information desk of the library if you wish to browse, it may be easier to look at the print copy. The Library CD-ROM applications network has the current edition available, and charts can be downloaded in Excel format.

Bureau of Economic Analysis - National, international, and regional data, such as GDP, (many from Survey of Current Business), GDP by industry group, shipments of manufacturing industries, some data in HTML, some in spreadsheet.
Economagic - State and regional national indicators.
Yahoo! Finance - Historical financial datasets for stocks or indexes which you can download into CSV format and import into Excel.  Other Sources
The online data services that the Horn Library subscribes to are excellent sources for data sets. Datastream - Economic data, currencies, stock prices, and other data sets can be downloaded directly into an Excel spreadsheet for easy manipulation.
Compustat - Standard & Poors database of historical company financial information. Data can be downloaded into Excel format. We also have some useful print materials that are helpful for locating data sets.
Bloomberg - Using an plug-in, Bloomberg allows you to search for data that can be found on their service directly through Excel. You can also download information you find by using their API function.
CRSP (Center for Research in Security Pricing) - CRSP can generate reports on historical stock prices which can be opened in Excel. By clicking on the "Quick Tutorial" graphic on our CRSP page, you can view a two-minute video on how to do this.
