Tax Research Databases

CCH Tax Research Network - CCH Tax Research Network NetWork provides searchable, full-text coverage via internet access to numerous federal and state tax publications. Horn Library's contract with Commerce Clearing House provides access to a number of tabbed portions of the database including Federal, State, and Financial & Estate Planning. Notable secondary publications include several CCH Reporters: federal (income, estate/gift, excise and tax treaties) and state (individual and multi-state). Primary source coverage includes the Internal Revenue Service code, manual, letter rulings and positions, as well as access to tax regulations and cases. Federal archives date back to 1978, while the state archives go back to 1994. Journal coverage includes the following titles: CCH Federal Tax Weekly, Taxes - The Tax Magazine, and Journal of Retirement Planning. Customize scope options by choosing categories, select from Boolean or citation format searching and utilize CCH's vast network of topical indices and hypertext links.

Accounting Tax Database (Proquest)  - Abstracts, indexing and selected full text of accounting and tax journal articles.

Tax Law via LexisNexis Academic - Click on Legal Research and cursor down to click on Tax Law(under the heading Codes & Regulations) to access the Internal Revenue Code, the Internal Revenue Bulletin, Federal Tax Cases or State Tax Cases via pull-down. Since the CCH Tax Research Network is limited to on-campus access, LexisNexis Academic should be a first choice for remote access tax research.

FEDTAX STTAX Libraries via LexisNexis- Federal state case law, IRS rulings code, loose-leaf services, articles, news, International news treaties. LexisNexis is a comprehensive, full-text, online service providing national and international news, business, company and financial information as well as the text of laws, codes, statutes, rulings, and law journal articles. Dates of coverage for publications vary, with some dating back to 1970s and 1980s. On campus students should use CCH Tax Research Network as a first choice and rely on the workstation version of LexisNexis as a back-up. Libraries that will be of interest include: FEDTAX, SSTAX (state tax library) and TAXANA (tax analysts publications library). The LexisNexis 2003 Directory of Online Services (Information Desk1) contains an alphabetical list of libraries and their contents (see top right-hand corner of each page), as well as an alphabetical list of publications by title.
