| Finding Books
There are books on reserve at Information Desk 1 on renaissance art. Check the WEBnet online library catalog. Use WEBnet to find books and other library materials available at the Horn Library and the Olin, Pine Manor, and Regis College Libraries. You can use your Babson OneCard to check out materials at these libraries, or stop at the Information Desk of the Horn Library and request that the books be delivered to Babson. It usually takes 2-3 business days to get books from other WEBnet libraries. Try WorldCat or even bn.com or amazon.com to find out if there are any books that may be useful. If you find any good ones, request them through Interlibrary Loan. Art Dictionaries and Encyclopedias Grove Dictionary of Art - Excellent resource to get started with! Finding Articles
FirstSearch - There are a few databases in the Arts and Humanities section that you should try including: -
- Tips for searching FirstSearch: Use advanced search, and search the title of the work as a DESCRIPTOR or SUBJECT. Look through your results and limit, if need be, by using keywords found in the descriptor field of the records. If you get no results, think creatively and use synonyms. Sometimes you may have to search for concepts instead of the work itself. Use this technique in the other databases listed below as well.
- Not all sources will be FULL TEXT ONLINE! Use WebCat, the online library catalog to find out if the journal or book is available in the library. If not, you may have to borrow the item via Interlibrary Loan. To check to see if the magazine/journal may be available in full text format in another online database, check the Online Journal Finder.
- ProQuest - Full text and summaries of articles on various topics.
- Expanded Academic ASAP - Abstracts and some full text of scholarly journals and periodicals.
