Babson Names New Dean of Faculty

Shahid Ansari, Zwerling Term Chair Professor of Behavioral and Managerial Accounting at Babson College, has been named Dean of Faculty.           

undefinedAnsari is an internationally known scholar in the area of behavioral and cultural aspects of management accounting, strategy, control, and change management. His experience includes teaching, scholarly research, and consulting in this area.  He has published numerous papers, monographs, and books. The most recent book is Hitting the Target: An Implementation Guide for Target Costing, published by the Consortium for Advanced Manufacturing International (CAM-I).  

Prior to joining Babson, Ansari taught in graduate and undergraduate programs at the University of California Los Angeles, California State University Northridge, New York University, and the Naval Postgraduate School. He has also been a Visiting Faculty at INSEAD, Macquarie University, Pretoria University, University of Southern California, the Shell Learning Center in Houston and Holland, Rice University, and Darden School (University of Virginia). He has served in a variety of academic administrative positions. Ansari has consulted with a wide variety of organizations, and has served as an expert witness in the area of cost.

Ansari has won several awards and honors for distinguished teaching during his career. He has also received CAM-I’s “Bob Bonsack Award for “Distinguished Contribution to the Advancement of Cost Management” and the Institute of Management Accountants’ “Jim Bulloch Innovation in Management Accounting Education Award.” 

Ansari earned his bachelor and MBA degrees from the University of Karachi, Pakistan, and a Ph.D. from Columbia University.

He lives in Wellesley with his wife Jan Bell who is also an accounting professor at Babson. They have two sons, Alex who graduated from the University of California at Berkeley majoring in bioengineering, and William, a junior at the University of San Diego studying molecular biology.
