Babson Team Presents Collaborative Assessment Workshop at National Conference

Babson College Undergraduate Dean Dennis Hanno, Associate Professor Norean Sharpe, Associate Dean of Academic Services Rachel Reiser, and Director of Institutional Assessment, Diane C. Chase, will lead the workshop “Developing a Collaborative Assessment Framework” on November 5th at the 2007 Assessment Institute in Indianapolis, a national planning and institutional improvement forum.

They will present and discuss lessons learned from the process of creating and implementing a collaborative, cross-functional assessment framework from three perspectives:  faculty, professional staff, and administration; and how Babson College’s learning goals and integrated curriculum have functioned as the catalysts for productive interaction among faculty and administrators in assessing student outcomes.

“Two members of our team have attended the Assessment Institute in the past and have come away with fresh ideas and practical insights,” according to Chase. “Talking with colleagues about assessment on their campuses helps us put our work in perspective. We’re delighted to be presenting our work at Babson this year – it’s a way of ‘giving back’ what we’ve learned, and of contributing to assessment theory and practice.”

Conference attendees include faculty, student affairs professionals, and administrators who have an interest in or responsibility for assessment.  They will be introduced to innovations in assessment and new techniques and approaches in a variety of outcomes in concurrent workshops during the three-day event.
