In Women Seen and Heard, experienced public speakers share their wisdom on how to get ready for and deliver dynamic presentations. The book covers all you need to know on overcoming stage fright, shifting from a subjective to strategic approach when planning your speech, enlivening presentations, building on gender differences, and capitalizing on life experiences to gain credibility as a voice of authority.

Phillips coaches women and men in business and politics on presentation styles for speaking to the press and audiences, and for pitching to investors. She has hosted two cable television programs on the impact of women’s changing roles on family and workplace.

She teaches public speaking at University of California/Santa Barbara, and Organizational Communication at Antioch University. Phillips has provided seminars on “Transcending Sex Role Stereotypes in the Workplace” and has been a keynote speaker at the California Elected Women’s Association for Education and Research (CEWAER) and University of California Women’s Conferences.

As a consultant, Phillips facilitates focus groups on women’s leadership issues in corporate and governmental environments including DreamWorks Animation and Inamed Corporation. She also conducts communication audits and environmental scans for public and private sector clients as part of her strategic planning practice. Her research team provided a workforce analysis for a consortium of seven colleges in Southern California on the intersection between economic development and higher education. She recently facilitated a Mental Health Summit with 150 participants under the Mental Health Services Act of California.
