Creative Thinking Prize Winners Named at Babson College The winning entries in Babson’s first annual Creative Thinking Contest include a poem, a song, a video, a photograph, and a painting. The Babson Creative Thinking Prize honors all forms and intersections of creativity; it celebrates and highlights the process innovators and entrepreneurs use to develop products in all fields. Winners are: -
First Place - $2500 prize: Matthew Mashburn, ’09, of Owings Mills, Md. for his original song Self Control, sung and recorded by himself. -
2nd Place - $1500 prize: Vicente Casellas ’09, of Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, for his photograph “Graffiti Artist.” -
3rd Place - $1000: Soha Ehsani, ’09, from Nairobi, Kenya, for a self-portrait painting. -
4th Place (tie) - $250 each: Erin Connery ’09, of Holderness, NH, a poem “Fields and Fields,” and Marcial Carrion ’12, of Allendale, NJ, for his video“America Today”. All entrants are required to write an essay that will educate and inspire the judges. They will rank based on how richly the narrative describes the influences that affected the decision-making and creative-thinking processes. Selected finalists present their original work and the essay to a panel of judges who make decisions based on how dynamically and inspirationally the presenters introduce their artifact, and how well they explain the creative thinking process involved. Vivid presentation of the creative thinking process is as important - if not more important - than the submitted creative work of art. The Creative Thinking Prize is sponsored by The Arthur M. Blank Center for Entrepreneurship at Babson College. |
