Non-profit 4GreenTires.org reduces auto emissions by giving away free tire gauges
Babson MBA student and serial entrepreneur Rush Hambleton is the ultimate multi-tasker. He recently founded his third venture-- canditto.com—while enrolled in Babson’s entrepreneurial, full-time MBA program during the day.
“The rest of the time,” says Hambleton, “my mind keeps thinking about simple ways average Americans can reduce their carbon footprints.”
Hambleton’s latest passion led to the development of 4GreenTires.org, a kind of motivational website that helps track cumulative savings and alert drivers to the fuel and money they waste driving around on tires that are too flat.
Early adopters to 4GreenTires.com received free tire gauges---with free shipping—and the site links to other how-to places and important conservation resources.
Hambleton recently won a $5,000 environmental grant in the STAND FOR contest sponsored by Keen, Inc, an environmentally friendly footwear company. Contestants like Hambleton were judged on the most apt, creative, original, and interesting submissions demonstrating personal concern and environmental awareness.
“With a simple tire gauge, you can save $100 in gasoline and more than 500 pounds of carbon emissions each year,” says Hambleton, “4GreenTires.org hopes to continue its mission to inspire more and more eco-friendly drivers.”
