Babson Team Is Finalist In International Business Challenge
|
A team of four undergraduate Babson students earned a Finalist Award at the 2006 International Business Challenge (IBC) held at the University of Texas, Austin in October. Team members (left to right) included seniors Jason Reuben, Mark Vandemore, advisor and assistant finance professor Ryan Davies, Justin Peagram, and George Mica. Each team was given a “live” case problem based on a company called Netcast HD, an early stage technology company looking for a launch strategy to offer high definition applications to both consumers and businesses. Teams had 60 hours to prepare their solutions, and then presented them to a distinguished panel of judges that included representatives from Netcast HD and other local businesses. “Our team showed remarkable ability to think 'out of the box' producing an extremely innovative solution to the challenge of launching this early stage company," Davies said. “I’m proud of how the Babson team responded to the intense competition, working together with each member making valuable contributions to the end product.” From an original field of twenty teams, four teams were selected for the final round: Babson College, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the University of Washington, and the eventual first place winner of the competition, the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Twenty leading undergraduate business schools from the US, Canada, South America, Asia and Europe, competed. In alphabetical order, they are: Babson College BI Norwegian School of Management Case Western Reserve University Concordia University Georgetown University Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Indiana University Purdue University Queen’s University Simon Fraser University Thammasat University The Chinese University of Hong Kong The University of British Columbia The University of California - Berkeley The University of Edinburgh The University of Hong Kong The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill The University of Southern California The University of Texas at Austin The University of Washington |
