Babson Team Among Five Finalists to Compete in Hong Kong Case Competition
A team of four Babson College undergraduate students has been named one of five finalists in the IIBD(International Institute for Business Development) Case Competition 2009 and will compete in the final round in Hong Kong on November 13.

Seniors Tahira Adatia, (Seattle, WA), Ada Chen, (Quincy, MA), and Monique Stone (Franklin, MA), left to right in photo, and junior Rajiv Singla (Rockville Centre, NY) second from left, make up the Babson team that will travel to Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) for the competition that is organized by the Wing Lung Bank International Institute for Business Development. Travelling with them is faculty advisor and finance professor, Ryan Davies.
Out of 30 schools from around the globe, the finalists after the first round held in June are (in alphabetical order):
· Babson College, USA
· Hong Kong Baptist University, HKSAR
· Ryerson University, Canada
· The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, HKSAR
· Wuhan University, Mainland China
Each of the five teams will be given a business case in the morning on 13 November 2009. They will have six hours to research and analyze the case, then develop a set of action plans and recommendations for their presentation in the afternoon. Each team will have 20 minutes for the presentation, followed by a 15-minute question-and-answer session being asked by the Panel of Judges. Based on each team’s presentation in terms of depth, comprehensiveness, relevance, originality and persuasiveness, as well as its ability to defend and present recommendations; the judges will announce and present Gold, Silver, Bronze and Best Presenter awards immediately following the presentations.
The four awards are:
· Gold Prize: HK $15,000 and Trophy
· Silver Prize: HK $8,000 and Trophy
· Bronze Prize: HK $5,000 and Trophy
· Best Presenter: HK $2,000 and Trophy
In addition, each finalist team receives HK $25,000 toward travel expenses, plus a hotel and meals allowance.
