At Babson’s 5th annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Legacy Day, awards were presented to winners of the Leadership Award, the Essay and Speech contest, and the Creative Writing contest.
The Martin Luther King Jr. Leadership Award, created in 2004, honors members of the Babson community who reflect Dr. King’s principles and ideals in philosophy and action.

Undergraduate and MBA students are invited to write for the Essay and Speech contest on one of two questions based on the theme of the day. First place winner delivers his/her speech at the evening event and receives $500.00; second place winner receives $250.00.

New this year, the Creativity Contest is for undergraduate and graduate students who are invited to enter short pieces that address some aspect of Dr. King’s life and legacy by choosing one of the following genres: poetry, short fiction, dramatic monologue or dialogue, spoke word, or creative non-fiction. The first-place winner receives $500.00; second place receives $250.00.
