Babson College Among Finalists For 2009 Technology Leadership Awards

Babson College has been named a finalist in the Mass Technology Leadership Council, Inc. leadership awards in the Public Sector Organization category.

The first group of finalists for the awards program announced June 25, 2009, was in the following categories: Private Sector Company; Public Sector Organization; CEO; Innovator; and CIO of the year. Honoring Massachusetts companies and individuals who best exemplify leadership and excellence in business and technology, the Technology Leadership Awards recognize outstanding achievement in both the development and deployment of technologies.

"We are very excited to announce this year's first set of nominees, who have set themselves apart by exemplifying the spirit of innovation and the future promise that defines the Massachusetts technology community," said Tom Hopcroft, president of the Mass Technology Leadership Council.

The next group of finalists will be announced on July 16, 2009, in the following categories: Emerging Innovative Company, CTO, Investor and Emerging Executive of the year.

More than 160 submissions were received during the open nomination process. Council Trustees, local thought leaders and media were involved with the selection process. The winners will be announced at the Fall Awards Gala, Thursday, November 5 at the Copley Marriott.

Awards Program Sponsors are Invest Northern Ireland, Microsoft, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ropes & Gray, and Silicon Valley Bank.

The Mass Technology Leadership Council, Inc. is the only association that addresses the critical leadership issues of innovative software and technology-enabled companies. Formed by the combination of Massachusetts Software Council and New England Business and Technology Association, Inc., the organization is dedicated to fostering entrepreneurship and promoting the success of companies that develop and deploy technology across industry sectors. The Mass Technology Leadership Council conducts educational programs, hosts industry events, facilitates networking, sponsors research, advocates in favor of technology policies that promote innovation, entrepreneurship and competition, and recognizes industry-leading companies and people.
