The F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College has named Georges Ngongang, M ‘10, winner of the 2009-2010 William G. McGowan Scholarship.
Babson’s William G. McGowan Scholar applicants must maintain a 3.0 grade point average and submit an essay. McGowan scholar candidates must demonstrate leadership ability, interpersonal skills, and involvement in academic, campus, and community activities. The award also recognizes intellectual curiosity, and a spirit of innovation and entrepreneurial potential.
“Georges is the ideal candidate for this honor. He has an excellent record of academic achievement, a spirit of curiosity, and a commitment to community building,” said Allan Cohen, graduate school interim dean and member of the selection committee. “This was a difficult choice; we had an unusual group of talented candidates worthy of recognition, reflecting the quality and commitment of our student body. The Committee found him to be the embodiment of the leadership characteristics the McGowan Foundation seeks to recognize and reward.”
“I am very pleased to be named the McGowan Scholar,” says Ngongang. “It enables me to complete my Babson education and to pursue my goal of contributing effectively to the economic development of Cameroon, my home country. I am grateful to Babson, my teachers and my colleagues, for their support and for the opportunities I have to learn and to give back.”
Ngongang, a first-year student in the Two-year MBA program, lives in France with his wife and children. He earned undergraduate degrees in Electronics from the University of Dschang, in Cameroon, and in electrical engineering and telecommunications from the University of Applied Sciences in Germany; and a graduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Automation from the University of Metz, in France.
Ngongang is co-founder of the Babson Africa Business Forum where he serves as Director of Marketing, Communication and IT. He is also a member of the Babson Investment Management Conference’s organization committee, responsible for Technology, and he has joined the Babson chapter of Toastmasters International.
