Ecommerce/Marketing Firm, Before The Stores, LLC, Babson’s 2009 Student Business of the Year At the awards ceremony during Celebrating Student Venturing on Thursday, April 16, 2009, Before The Stores, LLC, was named Babson Student Business of the Year. Babson junior Amar Khubani, founder and president of Before The Stores, LLC, receives a $5,000 cash prize. In addition, all three finalists will benefit from public relations assistance from Institutional Advancement, and an opportunity for business counseling from the Babson Alumni Resource Networks. Before The Stores, LLC is a hybrid company that combines a market research firm and an ecommerce firm into one. The company does research on new "As Seen on TV" products, leveraging new technologies to get better information, faster and more effectively, than traditional market research firms. In return for the research, companies give Before The Stores exclusive rights to sell their successful products on websites such as eBay and Amazon. The Student Business of the Year Award (SBYA), established in 1959, is presented by the Babson College Alumni Association in recognition of an undergraduate student’s outstanding commitment to launching and operating a successful enterprise while pursuing an education. Selection is based on initiative, character, originality, persistence and success, with emphasis on the learning experience. Winners exemplify Babson’s entrepreneurial tradition.
